Signals Project Engineer

MAIN PURPOSE: 
This position is responsible for generating and/or reviewing signaling design drawings in accordance with standards and internal procedures with clients design requirements. Also works directly with the engineering team. Maintain the drafting standards of the company and clients and ISO standards

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Control drawings, drawing records and revisions
  • Ensure that all technical aspects of the work conform to all applicable codes and standards
  • Ensure that all work is completed accurately
  • Performs general administrative and record keeping functions such as: photocopying, filing, faxing and preparing and distributing correspondence
  • Maintain drafting standards of the engineering department and clients
  • Produce layout and design drawings for railway signaling/electrical
  • Assist Mechanical designer with layout and design drawings
  • Update existing drawings
  • Act as an independent auditor for signaling designs and data prepared by others
  • Execute strong operational skills and knowledge
  • Obtain and provides written documentation for all clarifications and instructions, attends all regular meetings
  • Assists in contacting trades and suppliers, regarding invitations, pricing, addenda and tender/bid closings
  • Carries out a wide range of diverse, sensitive, operational and technical duties within the department
  • Ensures all internal controls, processes and procedures are followed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    The successful candidate for this role will demonstrate the following skills and experiences:

  • 5+ years of railway signaling design experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • A team player with an ability to also work independently
  • Strong time management skills
  • An understanding of signaling principles and industry standards
  • Familiarity with modern software development tools
  • Demonstrate the ability to think critically, act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems, and make decisions

    REQUIREMENTS
  • University/College Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of railway signaling design experience
  • Experience with CAD
  • P. Eng is an asset.
  • Working towards a Project Management Certification and or a Professional Designation
  • Courses in Project Management are considered an asset
