MAIN PURPOSE: 
Reporting to the Signals Manager - East, the Project Manager is responsible for providing overall direction for one or more projects and or supporting the development of new business opportunities relative to a particular client, group of clients, geographical location and or product line. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Plan, direct and manage all activities of all assigned projects at different stages of completion, to ensure that company objectives for customer satisfaction, safety, quality, production, revenue and profit are met within a specific time frame 
  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its core values
  • Plan, organize and staff key field positions through operation department heads or subordinate project/construction managers 
  • Responsible and accountable for the project management system, tools and personnel for all assigned projects from the time a project is received through the final payment of closed projects 
  • Administer internal project meetings with the superintendents, field engineers and appropriate sub contracts to make necessary changes and finalize the work schedule
  • Attend the customer’s Pre-Construction Meeting and ensures necessary staff and sub-contractors attend 
  • The Project Manager will procure critical Project Documents (necessary permits, submittals, sub-contractor insurance requirements) required by the specifications or client and acquire fully executed contracts from customers and sub-contractors 
  • Develop and implement Quality Management Plans, Safety Management Plans, Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Manufacturing, and Construction plans as required to meet project objective 
  • Monitor projects daily and record production and job costs into the project management system
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect company’s interest, ensure profitability, and maintain good client relationships. Develops and submits corporate reporting within deadlines. 
  • Prepare weekly and monthly Project Progress Reports as required
  • Identify changes in the scope of work to determine if there is an opportunity or need to submit a Change Order Request to the customer 
  • Facilitate and execute all Change Orders with the customer 
  • Verify and record committed and actual job costs into the project management system daily 
  • Complete a Project Close out Report to identify final changes in work scope, additional revenue opportunities, punch list items and any hindrances that may delay close out and final payment. 
  • Submit invoices and collect payments from the customer as necessary 
  • Provides strong leadership to construction team members, capitalizing on individual and group strengths 
  • Update and maintain customer/contact database for all contacts associated with any project, existing customers, sub-contractors, prime contractors or any other parties that may influence or impact A& B Rail Services success 
  • May perform other related duties as required.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    The successful candidate for this role will demonstrate the following skills and experiences:

  • Strong computer skills are required with proven proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Understanding of method of bidding, purchasing, negotiating, contracting, cash flow, expedit-ing, receiving and transporting
  • A track record of building successful teams, effectively motivating people and maintaining ef-fective relationships with clients, owners and consultant.
  • Ability to anticipate stakeholder needs, investigate the underlying causes and identify short and long term solutions
  • Ability to plan and manage to a project schedule
  • Contract negotiation/management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Effective and proven organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a high pressure and demanding work environment

  • Demonstrate ability to perform maturely and professionally ensuring complete confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information 
  • Demonstrate the ability to think critically, act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems, and make decisions

  • REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field; or 6+ years related experience without a degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the construction/industrial industry
  • Signals and Communications construction experience is an asset
