Job Description
Solidus is searching for a Dev Ops Engineer to work on build, deployment, and operations automation and operations tools configuration and environment deployment.  

The successful candidate will be comfortable implementing and maintaining computer systems for efforts in both areas. This involves interpreting mission and R&D computing requirements into hardware specifications and configurations for local testbed environments as well as forward-deployed systems. This position works as part of a tightly connected team of software architects, software developers, and researchers.

The Dev Ops Engineer will be part of a team that creates and transitions advanced technologies for ensuring the security and resiliency of next-generation mission-critical systems. The group's research and development (R&D) in this area focus on a wide range of systems from drones and satellites, to handheld devices and miniature sensors, to high-performance secure cloud computing, to many others.

Responsibilities include: 
-Automation of system provisioning on bare-metal, virtual, and container platforms as well as design, implementation and maintenance of computer systems and testbeds to support research and development programs in the Secure Resilient Systems and Technology Group 
-Serve as a go-to person for build and deployment tools and automation and system administration needs in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team of researchers, analysts, and software developers.
-Bring your experience with operations tools and technologies with a system administration foundation to maintain and improve existing processes and services as well as design and deploy new environments.
-Translate program requirements into specific, system-level tasks.
-Specify hardware features, software tools, and technical details in support of program requirements.
-Design, build, and maintain local R&D testbeds, automation and processes as well as forward-deployed systems.Ensure these systems are supporting day-to-day research activities and are kept secure, up-to-date, and available for demonstrations.
Requirements:
-US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
-MS plus 3 years minimum experience, or BS plus 5 years minimum experience
-Configuration management automation tools with Ansible, Chef or Puppet
-Building and deploying Docker and Linux/Windows containers
-Operations automation tools such as Vagrant, Packer and Terraform
-Experience with automating sysadmin tasks using scripts: Bash, Python, PowerShell
-Software configuration management with git and Github
-Build automation tools like Bamboo, Jenkins, TravisCI
-Linux system administration on RHEL 6 and 7, CentOS, Ubuntu
-Building and deploying systems and services on cloud platforms such as AWS, OpenStack, OpenShift
-Deployment to virtualized environments with VMWare ESX, vCenter, vSphere
-Familiarity with Atlassian suite of tools: Jira, Bamboo, Fisheye
-Create and maintain documentation of infrastructure and configurations
-Ability to independently learn and apply new tools and technologies
-User-centric support of applications and servers
-Experience in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary development team
-Candidates must possess strong oral and written communications skills, and must be able to present findings/results to internal and external organizations

Preferred Skills: 
-Container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes
-Familiarity administering Windows Server 2012 and 2016
-Installing, configuring and managing directory services, i.e., LDAP and Active Directory
-Administration of Dell and HPE servers
-Experience with DoD Security Technical Guidelines (STIGs)
-Network hardware such as CISCO
-Configuration of firewalls, VLANS, DHCP, DNS, etc.
-Installing and maintaining servers in data centers
-Relational database system administration, i.e., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL
-NoSQL administration, i.e., ElasticSearch, Cassandra, HBase
-Administration of big-data stacks, i.e., Cloudera, MapR, Hortonworks, Hadoop
