Job Description
Solidus is looking for a Database Architect with strong knowledge of Data Management, Big Data/AI/ML, including AWS Big Data technology, architectures, solutions, trends, and frameworks, highly experienced and skilled to troubleshoot issues, validate solutions, recommend and implement architectural improvements. Candidate will work for an exciting and high visibility new software architecture and prototyping program developing next generation operations and sustainment capabilities for advanced U.S. fighter platforms.

The position will provide database and software development leadership as part of a core high performing team defining, implementing, and demonstrating modern flexible software architectures including cloud computing, big data and analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential and highly valued in this role.

The successful candidate will join a group that defines and implements advanced architectures for real-time embedded processing, avionics, and command and control systems. Open architecture efforts enable the flexible composition of sensors, processing systems, avionics systems, ground stations and command centers to provide necessary warfighting capabilities in a timely manner. 

The group focuses on high-performance systems that combine state-of-the-art software engineering practices with advanced hardware technologies including ASICs, FPGAs, GPUs, and microprocessors. It also develops and prototypes Department of Defense and Industry adopted standards that enable system operability and facilitate subsystem-level upgradability. The combination of these high-end processing systems and open architecture standards are transitioned to leading-edge US military platforms and command and control capabilities.

Requirements:
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
-  PhD plus 5 years minimum experience, or MS plus 8 years minimum experience 
- Proven work experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist
- In-depth understanding of database structure principles and big data engineering. 
- Expertise in SQL and Oracle, and writing SQL queries against large data sets. 
- Experience with Elasticsearch & Apache Hive
- Experience with SAS, R, Python, and/or other analytical tools, cloud databases, migration to cloud databases, and data lake architectures. 
- Experience with Java, C, and / or C++
- Experienced with agile development methods. 
- Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements 
- Experienced reviewing and assessing existing enterprise data-driven applications, to support new features, performance improvements, upgrades, and ongoing sustainment. 
- Highly-skilled at analyzing a large, complex system to determine performance bottlenecks, application bugs, and opportunities to improve efficiency.
   
Preferred:
- 7+ years of experience in data warehouse, analytics & reporting systems.
- Experience with Redis
- Proficiency in developing very large distributed systems with low-latency streaming.
- Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques. 
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, D3.js and R) 
- Demonstrated experience with databases, business intelligence tools, reporting, analytical environments, data management and warehousing, and the strategic use of information.
- Ability to synthesize diverse requirements and communicate them to different audiences (both technical and non-technical). 
- Experience developing enterprise-level software from the ground up, prototype to production.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Deep understanding of a wide variety of analytical processes including, regression, predictive modeling and forecasting.
