Job Description
Solidus is searching for an IT Systems Administrator. The ideal candidate will possess diverse IT System Administrator skills with actual hands-on experience in Linux, Windows, network storage, network administration, IT security and web services. Not only must this individual possess senior level IT engineering skills but he/she must also be able to design and architect solutions to meet the needs of  researchers. He/she must be able to effectively communicate solutions with team researchers and have excellent customer service skills. He/she must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction

The successful candidate will join a team team is composed of creative, motivated self-starters who share a common passion for helping solve critical National cyber security problems. The group is made up of computer scientist, software and hardware engineers, mathematicians, machine learning researchers and practitioners, cryptographers, system analyst and security architects that firmly believe we can make a difference in the security of the nation.

Responsibilities include:
-Scoping, planning/designing, delivering and maintaining systems in a security-critical environment based on needs/requirements.
-Play an active role within the organization on a continuing basis and will adapt and learn quickly.
-Attention to detail and completeness of work (eg, documentation) will expected.
-Translating requests into hardware/software requirements and design specifications
-Designing software and hardware systems based on requirements/specifications
-Assist with the procurement of hardware/software
-Troubleshoot software and hardware issues in dynamic environments
-Understand and operate within established guidelines as appropriate
-Document processes, procedures and solutions Required Experience:
-Broad System Administrator experience in diverse OS/network environments (6+ years)
-Experience in designing, building, and supporting virtualized environments, VMware preferred
-Solid troubleshooting of servers and storage
-Solid understanding of networking (eg. switching, routing, firewalls) and networking services/protocols (eg. DNS, DHCP, HTTP etc).
Requirements:
-US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. 
-MS OR BS and at least 1 Certification, and at least 8 years of experience
-Strong Linux skills
-Experience with government or Department of Defense information security procedures and policies.
-Ability to automate using scripting languages (e.g. shell or Python) 
-Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere preferred) 
-Demonstrated understanding of fundamental networking concepts and technologies (such as switching, VLANs, routing, firewall rules/access lists). Hardware experience with Cisco and/or Extreme preferred
-Knowledge of common open source tools and services (web server, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, git)
-Able to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused and challenging environment.
-Must possess strong problem-solving aptitude, the ability and willingness to constantly learn and update his/her skills, and be able to establish themselves as a critical player within a team. 
-Experience with Network switches and firewalls
-Experience in mixed OS environments (Windows, Linux, Macintosh)
-Experience with enterprise storage systems

Preferred Skills:
-Knowledge of common open source tools and services (web server, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, git)
-Work with Puppet configuration management and the tools in the Puppet ecosystem (Puppet, Foreman, MCollective, vagrant).Experience is a plus, but must at least have a desire to learn these technologies
