Job Description
Solidus is searching for a Design Engineer. The role will work on a variety of short duration (6-18 month) multidisciplinary projects
to support engineers as they develop prototypes for a wide variety of programs. The Design Engineer must be hands on and enjoy building hardware, developing and executing functional tests, and troubleshooting hardware prototypes. It is mandatory that the candidate be able to work both independently and in highly motivated multidisciplinary small teams. A primary emphasis remains on practical hands on skills rather than theoretical. This Engineer must have a blend of design and hands on build and test skills.  The engineer needs to integrate embedded electronics with a plethora of devices including analog, RF, and optical sensors into working prototype systems.  Steps in their work will include: requirements development, circuit board design, circuit layouts and fabrication oversight, board testing and debugging, and integration into the chassis/system.

 The successful candidate will join a team that develops state of the art systems which integrate diverse sensors into a variety of platforms, ranging from land-based demonstrations to small unmanned aerial systems and satellites. 

-US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. 
-PhD plus 5 years minimum experience, or MS plus 8 years minimum experience
-Demonstrated hands-on approach to design, build and test both independently and as part of a small team.
-Demonstrated approach to system integration, testing and troubleshooting.
-Experience designing custom printed circuit boards and initial debugging associated with bringing up a new printed circuit board.
-Experience designing and testing electronics with embedded controls, analog, RF, optical and battery powered circuitry.
-Experience with the following software or its equivalent: Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, Expedition, DxDataBook, CES (Constraint Editor System)
-Experience working with battery powered electronics.

Preferred Skills:
-Experience with MILSPEC, aviation, or space rated hardware.
-Experience working with a 3D CADD program such as Solidworks.
-Programming experience in Python, Java, C, or C++.
-Experience with FGPA programming in VHDL or equivalent, preferably for Xilinx product
