Job Description
Solidus is searching for a Structural Engineer. 
   
Responsibilities include: 
-Perform structural analyses and testing for high performance sensors and payloads in a space environment.
-Use of finite element analysis to predict mechanical response quantities including displacements and stress to meet structural integrity and mechanical system requirements.
-Specific analyses include predicting the structural response and behavior due to inertial and pressure loads, thermal environments, harmonic and random vibration disturbances, and shock environments.

The successful candidate will join a team that provides innovative multidisciplinary engineering solutions though the development of advanced mechanical and aerospace technologies for sea, ground, air, and space-based prototype systems for national security applications. Examples include the development of structural-material systems for space borne imaging and laser communication terminals, heat exchangers for high-flux laser and RF solid-state devices, and aerodynamic designs and multifunctional materials for UAV platforms. Engineering solutions are developed through the utilization of appropriate technologies coupled with high-fidelity models and multidisciplinary simulations, environmental and performance characterization testing, and the utilization and development of advanced materials to optimize solutions to meet ever increasing performance, size, weight, and environmental challenges.
Requirements:
-US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
-BS plus 1 year minimum experience
-Ability to perform structural analysis and testing for space payloads
-Structural analysis using MSC/Nastran commercial finite element software
-Vibration and shock testing experience to characterize, anchor, and validate models as well as to perform environmental testing.

Desired Skills:
-Knowledge of manufacturing practices and designing for manufacturing
-The ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and to clearly describe results in oral presentations and written reports.
