Summary:

Upper Great Lakes Family Health (UGLFH) is seeking a Peer Recovery Coach to work as a personal guide and mentor for UGLFH patients seeking, or already in, recovery from a substance use disorder by creating and sustaining networks of formal and informal services.  POSITION DEPENDENT ON EXTERNAL GRANT FUNDING.

  • Acts as a role model while understanding that each patient pathway to recovery is patient-determined.
  • Mentors patients and helps them identify and remove barriers and obstacles to their recovery.
  • Assists with creating resource guides and ensures updates are made appropriately.
  • Monitors referral notifications and arranges patient introduction meetings and appointments.

Job Qualifications:
  • Possesses the equivalent of formal training in healthcare, generally obtained in the form of a post-high school certification.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based substance use disorder recovery, typically acquired through continuing education.
  • Completion of MDHHS Peer Recovery Coach or CCAR Recovery Coach training.
  • Evidence of basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Must be recovered from a substance use disorder with a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety immediately preceding date of hire.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally between UGLFH clinic locations.
